Over the last seven years, in-house projects have become a necessity for our maintenance team. Whether it is improving the playability, aesthetics, or just fixing a natural disaster, we have taken on many challenges. Some of these projects include:
Construction Highlights at Stow Acres Country Club
  • new tee boxes
  • major drainage lines
  • small capacity irrigation for practice facilities
  • new bunker and approach complexes
  • major tree work
  • turf resurrection and repair
Although my construction background is fairly brief, I feel that I can successfully install the basic features of a golf course. While doing my internship at The Stanwich Club in the summer of 2005, I was able to contribute to a major bunker restoration plan. Our main responsibility was to help keep 320,000 sq. ft. of sod alive. This was a great learning experience, and I have used that experience now as a Superintendent in many of the in-house projects we manage here at Stow Acres.
